Infant, Toddler, Child Development 3 semester hours Course Description: The study of the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional aspects of young children and their application to the care, guidance, and development of the child, birth to nine. Field experiences required. (Pre-requisite: ECED 1010, 2010 and completion of all DSP requirements for reading, writing, and learning strategies) Course Outcomes: The student will: · Know about current trends in brain research and implications for child development. · Understand prenatal influences and newborn development. · Know and understand young children’s characteristics and needs during the first nine years of life. · Know and understand multiple influences on development and learning. · Identify the major theories of human development and learning.
